JAMES LIPTAK
Jim Liptak is the President of James & Sydney Liptak, Inc., located in Templeton, California, which is wholly owned by Jim and his wife Sydney.
Jim is currently serving as the President of the California Association of Realtors, which gives him a considerable edge when it comes to learning of new or proposed legislation. That 'edge' also allows Jim and Sydney's clients, information from the industry frontlines which provides a clearer perspective on making important real estate decisions affecting their financial future.
He has been successfully practicing real estate brokerage in the Northern San Luis Obispo County for over 20 years. He has served as Association President twice. He has been voted REALTOR of the Year by his peers in the Paso Robles Association of REALTORS five times during that period.
Jim is the only REALTOR on the Central Coast to ever serve on the Board of Directors of the National Association of REALTORS. He served as Chairman of the Conventional Finance and Lending Committee for the National Association of REALTORS in 2001. In 2002, Jim was a member of that committee as well as NAR’s Public Policy Coordinating Committee, it’s Research Committee and NAR’s Business Issues Committee.
Jim was named an Honorary Director for Life by the California Association of REALTORS, the largest state trade association in the country, in 1998 for his ongoing commitment as an industry leader. One of the first recipients of CAR’s Outstanding Chairman Award, his service to the California Association of REALTORS includes numerous Task Force assignments and chairing many of the associations public policy committees, including Legislative, Land Use and Environmental and Federal Issues. He has also chaired Realtor Consumer Protection, CARNET Committee and Realtor Political Network along with other Vice Chair assignments. He served as Regional Vice President in 1989. In 2002, Jim served as Vice Chair of the Political Affairs Committee.
He is an original member of FREDDIE MAC’s Real Estate Advisory Group, which was formed in 1999 to offer insight and advice to the nations second largest secondary market lender with regards to the real estate industry.
Jim has served on the steering committee for the City of Paso Robles, which formulated the cities Redevelopment Agency. He also served for two years as Chairman of the Redevelopment Agencies Project Area Committee.
Along with other volunteers, Jim was on the steering committee of the Capital Campaign for Centennial Park, which successfully raised funds to construct the cities state of the art multi-use park and aquatic facilities.
Jim is the founder of The Main Event, which is the premier real estate oriented forum in the county, held every year in San Luis Obispo. In its seventh year, the event draws real estate professionals from San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara County to disseminate timely information about changes affecting the real estate industry.
